How it works

  1. 1

    Pick what you're asking about

Your crush or partner, a friend, or family. The reading's voice changes with it.

  2. 2

    Send them the link

Text it, DM it, drop it in the group chat. They join from the browser, nothing to install.

  3. 3

    You each draw a card

Your card is yours, theirs is theirs. The reading opens only when both are down.

What a reading looks like

A sample reading for two friends, Maya and Jordan.

Three
Three of Cups
Queen
Queen of Pentacles

“One of you is the river, the other is the riverbank. That's the whole friendship.”

Maya · Three of Cups. In friend terms, Maya's card says celebration, friendship, and maybe a little community. Water energy: feelings first, words second.

Jordan · Queen of Pentacles. In friend terms, Jordan's card says nurturing practicality, resourcefulness, and maybe a little warmth and security. Earth energy: steady, practical, here for the long run.

Together. Water and earth are traditional allies: one feeds what the other needs. You cover for each other without making a thing of it, which is most of what friendship is. Both cards keep circling back to softness neither of you admits to. You both care more than you let on. A small, unprompted kindness would land harder than you expect.

Try this: Book the trip. Or at least the dinner.

Three kinds of pair readings

Couple tarot & crush tarot

For the person you're dating, the one you can't stop thinking about, or the situationship you need a second opinion on. Pairtold reads both of your cards as one relationship tarot spread.

Friendship tarot

For your best friend, your roommate, your group-chat co-pilot. Same cards, a friendlier (and roastier) voice.

Family tarot

For a sibling, a parent, a cousin you're close to. Warm, a little wry, and never a verdict.

Pricing

Starting a reading and drawing your cards is free.

You'll see your headline and the opening of the reading. To read the whole thing:

  • $1.99 unlocks one full reading
  • $4.99 for five full readings

One unlock opens it for both of you, so only one person pays. The person you invite never has to.

Questions

What is Pairtold?

Pairtold is a pair tarot web app. Two people each draw one card from a 78-card Rider–Waite–Smith deck, and Pairtold reads the two cards together as a picture of the relationship between them.

Can I see the result alone?

No. Pairtold only opens a reading once both people have drawn a card. That's the point: you have to send the link to the person the reading is about.

Is it free?

Starting a reading and drawing cards is free, and you both see the headline and the opening of your reading. The full reading costs $1.99, or $4.99 for five. One unlock opens it for both people.

Does the other person need an app or an account?

No. Pairtold runs in the browser. The other person taps your link, types a name if they want to, and draws.

How are the cards picked?

Pairtold shuffles a full 78-card deck with a cryptographic random number generator. Each card has a 50% chance of coming up reversed, and the two of you can never draw the same card.

How is the reading written?

Pairtold combines each card's traditional meaning with classic elemental dignities (fire, water, air, earth) to read how the two cards interact. The wording changes for love, friendship and family.

Is this fortune-telling?

Pairtold is a mirror, not a prophet. A reading points at things worth noticing and talking about. It never tells you what will happen or what to do.

Who's your other card?

It takes about a minute, and they'll want to know why you sent it.
